away meet tomorrow

Good afternoon!

Sorry for the delayed weekly email! We have our first away meet of the season tomorrow.

Please find specifics from the Carpenter Village Hammerheads below. Please note arrival and warm-up times.

We have 14 swimmers who are undeclared. Please declare ASAP. We need accurate numbers and names when we generate the heat sheets tonight.

We also need a few more volunteer positions filled- please sign up!

Meet Details From The Hammerheads:
  • Location: 705 Carpenter Town Lane, Cary, 27519
  • TSA CV Hammerheads Webpage: https://tsa.swimtopia.com/carpenter-village
  • CV Hammerheads Website: https://carpentervillage.swimtopia.com/
  • Parking: at the pool as well as on the street
  • Pool Deck Visiting Team Area: Your team has been assigned the deck space on the East side of the pool, which is to the right as you enter. While we have some chairs available, you will want to consider bringing folding chairs (and sunshades) just in case.
  • Concessions: Chick-Fil-A, pizzas, snacks (chips, candy, and Italian ice), and drinks (soda, bottled water, and sports drinks like Gatorade). We accept credit cards.
  • Pool Rules:
    • No glass containers are allowed in the pool area.
    • Our HOA has asked that the swimmers please DO NOT write on their backs or back of arms/legs. (When wet, this stains the pool chairs we use to line up the swimmers and is very hard to remove). Markers on the front of swimmers or on arms for swim numbers are fine.
Timeline:
  • 5:00-5:25 Home Team Warm-Ups
  • 5:15 Visiting Team Arrives
  • 5:30-5:55 pm Visiting Team Warm-Ups
  • 5:45pm: Volunteer Meeting at far end of pool near American Flag
  • 5:55pm National Anthem
  • 6:00 pm Meet Start Time (promptly)
  • 8:30pm Meet must finish
Meet Information:
  • Pool Set Up: Our pool has 6-lanes and we have official starting blocks.
  • Timing System: We utilize Time Drops as our timing system and are planning to use 2 timers per lane (1 from each team). There will be enough timing fobs for both teams to use. Since we place 2 timers per lane, we do not have Order of Finish Judges.
  • No Lights: We DO NOT have lights, so we must finish by 8:30pm. Our starter will move quickly and we will do dive-overs and combine relays (see below). In order to make sure we can have our full meet before the sun sets, we may also consider combining races where we can, and, later in the meet, we may need to drop exhibitions if we appear to be going over.
    • Combine Relays: Where we can, we prefer to combine relays.
    • Dive Overs: we will do “dive-over” starts with swimmers age 11 and older (those doing 50s). This means when those swimmers finish their race, they will stay in the pool against the wall so we can begin the next heat quickly (except backstroke).
Fun Stuff:
  • Coach/Parent Relays: With interest and if time allows, one of our team’s favorite “events” of the night is the coaches and parents relay. We invite your coaches and any parents who are interested to join in on the fun too! This will take place after we complete the breaststroke.
  • Ribbons: We will sticker ribbons (1st-6th place) and deliver them after the meet.
