KF Families,

With the first week of practice completed, we have a lot coming up for our families and swimmers. Please read this fully and carefully. We need all hands on deck!

We’ll have a new parent orientation Thursday (5/28) during all practice times. Find me at the metal picnic table in the shade.

Our Intra Squad meet will be June 2. This serves as our “practice meet”; we’ll be working out kinks that come with every new season. This will run like a typical meet but there is no opposing team- it’s just us! Warms ups will be at 5 and our team photo will be at 5:30. When you arrive with your swimmer, you will notice areas around the pool designated for each age group (6 and under boys, 6 and under girls, etc). Your swimmer will treat their age group area as their “homebase” for the meet. This serves multiple purposes. Among them: swimmers will develop camaraderie with teammates and the kid pushers will not have trouble finding missing swimmers. You’ll be able to check in on your kiddo and provide dinner and snacks. It helps to bring extra towels to create a cozy area and games/activities for your child to share. Parents will check in for their volunteer positions with Lyra on the deck in front of the Shnack Shack.

Asks:

1. We need a volunteer to take the team photo. We’ve had parents volunteer for this in the past. This is a short and sweet task.
2. We are still in need of Stroke and Turn Judges. This does require training but we can’t run meets without at least 1 per meet. Two in this position helps so they can split the meets.
3. The team bulletin board (near the Shnack Shack) needs a 2026 update. Let me know if you’d like to tackle this!
4. Sign up for volunteer positions for the Intra Squad meet. This meet is only one week away. While you’re at it, go ahead and sign up for meets throughout the season. Remember, for every swimmer you have, you must volunteer for 2 meets (roughly 5.0 volunteer hours).
