Good Evening Killer Whales Families

It's time for our First Away meet of the season!  

A few things to know for our meet this week are below -  please read carefully and read to the END.

Holly Glen has Six 25 yard lanes with blocks

** important - they DO NOT HAVE LIGHTS  so we have to have our stuff together and move the meet along quickly and we will need to finish or call the meet. - kid pushers and clerks please be ready ** 

Address & Parking

Holly Glen  pool is located at 201 Hollymont Drive in Holly Springs, NC. ( It's about 20 minutes from Kildaire Farms)  You may park in our clubhouse parking lot and along Hollymont Drive. Please do not park in the parking spots by the townhomes. If parking fills up and you need to park along Holly Branch, please only park on one side of the road.

Setting Up

Holly Glen will reserve the area closest to the starting side of the pool for our team, to the right of the entrance towards the concessions area (see attached image). They  will NOT  have chairs available, so please feel free to bring your own chairs and tents. 

Swim Meet Management

In order to make sure we can have our full meet before the sun sets we will do dive-over starts with swimmers age 11 and older. This means when swimmers finish their race, they will stay in the pool against the wall so we can begin the next heat quickly. 

Volunteer Meeting

Holly Glen will hold a brief volunteer meeting at 5:45 for the order of finish  judges, scorer, and clerk of course. The meet will begin promptly at 6.   Please have our timers gather in the clubhouse upon arrival to receive instructions on the Dolphin timing system.

Volunteer: Currently we are short the following positions.  We cannot run a meet without these volunteers:

7-8 kid pusher

Clerk of Courts

Order of finish Judge

Stroke n Turn Judge

Weather  -   Summer swim team brings out the meteorologist in so many of us - smile -  so  let's review the TSA rules so we  are setting a good example for our swimmers and not being negative nellies on Tuesday night if it happens to be inclement.

1. The Pool Manager has responsibility to declare if the pool should be closed due to inclement weather.   Unless the pool has a written rule that is more stringent swimmers are not allowed in the water for a minimum of 30 minutes after the last flash of lightening or the last clap of thunder.  Please Please Please DO NOT leave the parking lot until you have seen an email from ME/ Jeremy / Isabella/ Owen that we are calling the meet.

2. Meets may be held in the rain but not if there is thunder or lightening

3. A meet may not be delayed or interrupted for more than 60 minutes due to inclement weather.

3.  The TSA Reps determine how we will finish the meet and when we will call the meet. 

4.  If a meet is stopped due to weather - it will be declared over if we have finished Breaststroke.

5.  If we cannot get thru the main events of Breast Stroke we will have to go back to Holly Glen and swim on Wednesday.

6.   TSA reps may decide to do things differently if we are dealing with a weather situation.  It is very important to keep your swimmers with their kid pusher and in their group so we can move quickly.  KId Pushers  please please please listen closely and watch for Mr. Dott,  Me  & the coaches to scramble the swimmers to the blocks..

7.  Parents -  Please DO NOT LEAVE THE PARKING LOT UNTIL YOU GET AN EMAIL FROM ME / JEREMY / ISABELLA / OWEN.    We have lost meets in the past because our parents bailed - we restarted the meet and didn't have enough swimmers for relays  or main heats.   Very sad for our team when this happens.

8.   I know it sounds like a lot but a bit better to go over some of the questions you may have prior to the meet than to have confusion at the meet.   

9.  Let's all just work together - cheer our swimmers on and we will have an awesome fun swim meet with lots of personal best times!

Concessions

Holly Glen will have a concession stand with snacks, hot dogs, candy, and drinks. Please  your  bring small bills to help make change. They accept cash and debit/credit cards (a $0.35 fee will be added to all card purchases).
